Objective: The aim of this study is to analyze individuals' experiences in decision-making under time pressure.
Methods and Materials: This qualitative study used semi-structured interviews to collect data from 16 participants living in Tehran. Participants were selected based on their experiences in decision-making under time pressure. Data collection continued until theoretical saturation was reached, and the data were analyzed using Nvivo software.
Findings: The results revealed that time pressure significantly impacts the accuracy, speed, and confidence in decision-making. In time pressure conditions, participants focused more on the speed of their decisions, which led to decreased accuracy and increased errors. Additionally, time pressure caused a reduction in confidence and an increase in anxiety among participants. To cope with these challenges, participants employed strategies such as task prioritization and time division for breaks.
Conclusion: Time pressure has negative effects on decision-making, particularly in terms of accuracy and confidence. However, individuals can use coping strategies to mitigate these effects. These findings can contribute to improving decision-making under time pressure.
