Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study is to identify and analyze the key factors affecting the improvement of mental health in patients with depression following psychological treatments.

Methods and Materials: This is a qualitative study, with data collected through semi-structured interviews from 21 patients with depression following psychological treatments. Participants were selected from Tehran, and sampling continued until theoretical saturation was reached. Data were analyzed using Nvivo software and thematic analysis.

Findings: The results showed that three main categories of factors, including psychological, social, and therapeutic factors, played a significant role in improving the mental health of patients. Psychological factors included increased self-awareness and coping skills. Social factors such as social support and positive communication were also influential. Finally, the use of specific therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, also contributed to the improvement of mental health.

Conclusion: This study demonstrated that, in addition to psychological treatments, psychological, social, and therapeutic factors play an important role in improving the mental health of patients with depression post-treatment. Addressing these factors can contribute to better treatment outcomes and the prevention of relapse in depression.
